Ancient trading city, southeastern Iran. Almost continuously occupied in the 5th3rd millennia BC, it flourished as a centre for the production and distribution of soapstone before being abandoned during the 2nd millennium. It was reoccupied from c. 1000 BC to c. AD 400.
